Surgical Scrub

Scrubbing can be performed with either Chlorhexidine scrub sponge and water or Avagard™. If the patient has possible C.Difficile infection, chlorhexidine scrub and water must be used.

Scrubbing hands with the Avagard™ hand antiseptic with moisturizer (Chlorhexidine + Ethanol) should be carefully performed according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Simply:

1. Pump 1 (2 cc) into the palm of one hand. Dip fingertips of the opposite hand and fingernails then spread remaining up to elbow.

2. Repeat step 1 for other hand.

3. Pump 3 dispensed into either hand and reapply to all aspects of both hands up to the wrists.

-       Allow to dry.

-       Do not use towels.

-       Wash hands after each procedure.
